Invisalign Home Care Instructions
Ask Dr. Maggie, our Invisalign® expert.
- What can I expect from the Invisalign® process? As a patient, you’ll be expected to wear your aligners for 20 hours or more every day. You’ll be given approximately 8-12 aligners at each appointment and be instructed on long to wear each aligner before switching.
Mild discomfort can be experienced during the first day or two after changing aligners. After your teeth are aligned, Dr. Maggie will give you a set of retainers to hold their correction.
- How long is the treatment? It takes the same amount of time as braces, and in some cases faster. It varies from case-to-case but normally takes between 6-20 months.
- What do I do if food gets trapped underneath them? Take the aligners out and rinse them with water. Dr. Maggie recommends brushing your teeth after eating to remove food debris before putting the aligners back on.
- What if my teen forgets to wear it? Believe it or not, studies show teens are better than adults when it comes to compliance with Invisalign®. Dr. Maggie will monitor them during each consult and if it’s not working, she may change her orthodontic approach.
